We use an average usage profile to develop this tool. Although your household or business energy use pattern may differ from "average", this pattern gives you a starting point to gauge the effect of shifting electricity use from on-peak to off-peak hours.

This calculator compares Basic Service Energy charges for the electricity and delivery portions of your bill (does not include basic charges, demand, taxes, etc.) to the same service with the Time of Use option adjustments and portfolio service charge. The $1.50 monthly meter charge for Time of Use is not included. The prices displayed in this calculator do not represent your total bill.

To start, enter the number of kilowatt hours from your most recent Pacific Power bill, choose residential or business, and click "Calculate".

You shift 30% of your on-peak electricity use to off-peak hours

How this works:

Customers are not billed twice for the electricity they use. Instead, Time of Use customers are billed just the way all customers are billed on Basic Service, and receive adjustments for Time of Use. Time of Use customers receive a credit for the amount of electricity used during off-peak hours and a charge for the amount of electricity used during on-peak hours.

Each line in the chart shows the impact of shifting 10 percent, 20 percent, or 30 percent of on-peak electricity use to off-peak hours. The more electricity you shift to off-peak hours, the more you can save.

NOTE: These calculations are based on using 25% of your electricity during on-peak hours during the winter. Figures represent a 30-day bill.
